The Comparison of Bavarian and Saxon Foreign Relations
Nováková, Ela ; Eberle, Jakub (advisor) ; Handl, Vladimír (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with the phenomenon of paradiplomacy in the context of the comparison of two substate units - Bavaria and Saxony. The growth of paradiplomatic activities is a natural reaction of non-state actors to the increase of globalization, regionalization and in the selected territory also European integration. Both Bavaria and Saxony, as representatives of the substate level of government in German federalism, do not have the full range of their own, exclusive competences. Although they cannot act as fully sovereign international entities, they actively use means and tools available to them to engage in foreign relations. Paradiplomatic activities are illustrated in this thesis with emphasis on their current form and outside the level of channels regulated by the EU. The main differences between Bavaria and Saxony lie in their historical development, economic potential and identification with regional parties that influence both Munich and Dresden in their international appeal and self-confidence. Bavarian state players act as de facto equal partners in regional relations with Central European countries, and their attractiveness is evident on the global scale. This is also reflected in intra-German politics, where Munich articulates its provincial interests even if it deviates from...
Parental leave in Dresden and Leipzig with the focus of fathers involvement as an example for successful family politic
Jus, Denise ; Barth, Boris (advisor) ; Mlsna, Petr (referee)
In recent years Germany had to deal with demographical changes on his own territory, pointing an increasingly aging population and on the other hand with a low birth rate that could not normalize this trend. Family policy deals with these issues because one of its current goals is to raise birth rates and ensure and strengthen the position of women in the market. As a possible solution, the family policy sees it in the contribution of men to the share of parental leave. Therefore this diploma thesis will have this topic in the focus. The turning point for Germany and especially for fathers was the year 2007 when the so called "Elterngeld" was introduced with the goal to encourage men to take parental leave and support the woman with raising children. Thanks to this fact that a man help a woman with an upbringing child and household, to women is given the possibility to return to the working environment earlier (at least for a half-time job). This partnership should ensure greater stability in the relationship and possibly ensuring next offspring that Germany necessarily needs. Since 2007 can be noticed interesting numbers of men entering the parental leave. Noteworthy is that one of the highest figures is reported by Saxony with Dresden and Leipzig. Since the man is now seen as one of possible...
Financing of "Aufbau Ost" Programme: Solidarity Pact II - Key Issues and Current Discussions
Zientková, Dominika ; Kučera, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Mlsna, Petr (referee)
The thesis deals with an issue of financing German Unity, curentlly through solidarity pact II. Shortly after the reunification of Germany in 1990 it was obvious that the process of equalizing the economic levels of both parts of Germany required high financial transfers. And so the ambitious project called the economic reconstruction of eastern Germany (Aufbau Ost) was launched in order to provide eastern Germany the needed financial sources. Today it is done through the so called solidarity pact II. The aim of this thesis is to find out how two economically different developed federal states (Saxony and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) were gaining and using those financial sources during a specified period. Another aim is to analyze the ways of usage, to identify the unusualness and also to find the cause of criticism that comes from the western old federal states. On the basis of the analysis of the gaining financial recourses by Saxony and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern emerged partly interesting findings. Both states, although they have many differences, invest in a similar way, especially into the infrastructural deficits. Opposite to that, they do not invest that much into the equalization of disproportional financial power of municipalities. This fact is one of the reasons why the old federal states...

Hamrlová, Anna ; Zlatohlávek, Martin (advisor) ; Nespěšná Hamsíková, Magdaléna (referee) ; Halama, Ota (referee)
Mural paintings in the urban environment in 16th and beginning of 17th century has been rather an ignored topic, however its artistic interpretation and iconographic concept says a lot about the life of residents during Renaissance. The art phenomenon in this work was studied on the borderland between Bohemia and Moravia, currently the place of Havlíčkův Brod, Pelhřimov and Jihlava districts. At the same time, this division facilitated systematic research and listing of surviving paintings. First, the study focuses on the summary of a colourful historical situation in the given place and religious affairs related in particular, but not only to the New Utraquism and Lutheranism which followed up local Utraquist foundations from the Hussite Era. One of the aims of the work is to study the relationship between religion and artistic or iconographic interpretation of paintings. Selected artistic sources related in particular to the graphic works of that time play also important role. This is why other chapters are dedicated to the study of the theory of art of mural paintings, urban houses abroad and in the concerned location, study of sacral interiors within the context of the Saxon environment, and the last chapter deals with the thematic and iconographic study of collected paintings. The results...

Between tradition and modernity: City in the industrial age. North Bohemian architecture in the first half of the 20th century
Zeman, Jaroslav ; Macek, Petr (advisor) ; Švácha, Rostislav (referee) ; Vorlík, Petr (referee)
From the mid-nineteenth century the North Bohemian industrial area, populated mostly by Germans, experienced an unprecedented urban and demographic growth. The onset of the industrial revolution meant a major breaking point, in particular because the following periods shaped it most notably. The characteristic trait of the cities is a precipitous urban development with building boom. Thereby an impressive scrum of mutually coexisting industrial complexes, palatial villas, spectacular public buildings, generous garden districts and small town housing projects originated, creating the peculiar local genius loci. The border areas have always been a busy crossroads of cultures, histories and ideologies, in which Czechs, Germans and Jews mingled and interacted with each other, and thus they reflect the complex ethnic relations in the territory of today's Czech Republic. The Thesis focuses on the architecture of Czech Germans which formed the natural counterpart to the architecture of the Czech majority. The aim is to set this "second stream" of culture into a wider Central European context and find and define the specifics of the buildings production of Czech Germans. For this purpose, the trio of industrial agglomerations Usti nad Labem, Liberec and Jablonec nad Nisou was chosen, which are also compared...

The financial equalization in Germany
Lang, Marek ; Blahak, Boris (advisor) ; Knoll, Ursula (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the annual equalization payment system in the Federal Republic of Germany. The first theoretical part is concerned with the mechanisms, by means of which the funds are allocated to the single federal states. The financial equalization of the year 2012 is presented in detail. The second practical part looks into an analysis of the present discours on the legal action against the current equalization payment system with the Federal Contitutional Court and also into the reaction of the two major political parties on the legal action. It is also examined to which extent the interests of both of the political parties in the federal states correspondent with the Germany-wide ones. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
